Help a Little Dog Get Around
Scooter came to the Humane Society of Iredell via a phone call from Animal Control asking if we would assist in taking an animal from a recent hoarding case in Harmony, NC. The county removed 31 dogs and one cat from the property. Four of the dogs were dead.
The mobile home they found the dogs in did not have power and was covered in animal waste. Half a dozen dead dogs were discovered in cages on the property and several dog skeletons were found burned in a pit behind the home.
Scooter was one of the lucky survivors. However Scooter did not come away unscathed, he does not have hind legs. A donation has been made to buy a cart, but Scooter still has medical bills with which the Humane Society of Iredell would appreciate help.
Hoarding happens every day in Iredell County. Please contact your local authorities if you have reason to believe someone is hoarding animals.
