Happy Endings

StarrStarr was rescued by the Humane Society of Iredell. She is a beautiful German Shepherd, Belgian/ Malinois mix. She had been tied to a tree with a huge logging rope and got little or no personal attention. She was kept in foster care until she was adopted by a family that had an elderly dog. The adoption failed after one week. Starr was too active to be a good companion to the older dog. She went back to live with her foster family.

Highland Canine Training met Starr and was very impressed with her drive and ambition. They decided to take her in and immediately put her into their Second Chance Program in Harmony, NC. With a little help, she has turned into a very social, well-rounded dog.

Starr immediately took to the training and showed a great deal of potential as a police service dog. She loved her training and excelled in every aspect. She has now been trained in on and off leash obedience and tracking. Starr has also been trained in narcotics detection to locate marijuana, cocaine, heroin and methamphetamines.

Starr has been donated to the Vail Police Department in Vale, CO.

Highland Canine Training saw her potential very quickly and worked hard to help her be all she can be. She now has a life of service to her community instead of living tied to a tree.
